Would it not be feasible to use Pop Rivets(the correct size)?

Hi Rita thanks for reply, the tip of the rivet gun wont go into the channel, i have tried plenty

You could extend the tip of the rivet gun by using a thin tube which is small enough to fit in the track so it acts as a spacer and then feed the rivet thru' the tube. This was my 'plan b' option if the small self tapers didn't work on my tracks.

Mazda rang me this morning and said they cant get the screws form GB or EU but they can order them from Japan, it will take a month at a cost of £1.04p each and will post to me as soon as they arrive
result and no bodging needed
