Help again blinds screws needed pics of original screws !

Post by slow_n_low » Sat Nov 05, 2011 2:32 pm

Please can anybody help, this is the second post i have put up of this prob, nobody could help and only had a couple of replies ? i have had the blinds for 6 months now and they are still not up. I have tried every bolt and screw shop around my area to no avail, even had the staff come out and they cant think of a way to help.
These are the screws i need and they fit the thread in the tail gate, they are the original screws that come with the blinds, where can i get them.

By the way i have rang a few Bongo dealers to try buy some as advised and they dont know what they are neither and never ring back when they say they will.

Not sure about originals... do you have a screw pitch gauge or can you try taking a picture of one close up next to a ruler? They look quite like the screws you might get in IKEA, or used for kitchen cupboard hinges. Do they screw into plastic or metal?

Ive tried the ones you mention and they are too big,had the holes in the tail gate measured and nothing can be found to fit, everything i have tried has heads that are too big, the small headed ones are too thin to screw in, catch 22.
The ones i have shown are absolutley perfect and are from a friends Bongo.

I know there are some finer ones of this sort - I think they're used for attaching cheapo drawer slides. Again, though, they'll be a thread for cutting into chipboard. Without knowing the thread pitch of the ones your looking at, I may be barking up the wrong tree. (Same trees you've already climbed, I'm sure!)

Same tree yes lol, these are the original screws but seem to be a big mystery, the fit is universal in bongos.

It may be easier give up on the current fixings and then get some new small self tapping screws with countersunk heads and then drill new holes in the tracks and also in the tailgate.

I dont want to get new holes drilled or bodge it as the holes are already there and line up perfectly so should be used, the original screws are so neat and secure :P

When if fitted the tracks, there were no screws or holes, so I simply drilled new holes and used small countersunk screws as I mentioned before. If I were in your position, I would be tempted to opt for a practical solution and go with newly drilled holes and screws to fit. I know of someone who is breaking a Bongo with rear blinds, but to get the screws, he'll be wanting to sell them with the tracks and curtains too.
