Hi all. I am having big problems starting my p plate bongo 2.5d from cold. it Will not start unless i spray a starter spray into the airbox and its still a struggle. Once up and running it blows a lot of white smoke, but then its fine and runs perfect. Also it will then start once warm no probs. I have had the glow plugs replaced at a local garage, along with a service but this has had no effect and they have no clue what else it could be?? They also checked a relay controlling the plus was working and they think it is.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!

Check the volts are getting to the glow plugs. It could be your relay.

Think ?? The only have to put a meter on the Glowplug bus and they will see if its working and that volts are getting to the plugs themselves and that the voltage is the full 12+ volts, there shouldn't be any thinking involved! If they only listened for a clicking noise that's not actually checking it at all

Did they check the voltage was getting to the glow plug rail?, have they checked the fusible link connected to the starter battery positive terminal? Did they fit decent - ie NGK glow plugs?, a lot of the cheaper ones are crap TBH. Did they fit shorter glow plugs & now the glow plug rail is touching the fuel rail, shorting it out?
Did they check for fuel leaks around the fuel pump & hoses/pipes to see if air was being drawn in?

Stick your location in your profile by clicking on "user control panel" top right, there may be some local help forthcoming.
