Rear wheel won't turn in reverse

Post by andynew74 » Fri Apr 15, 2011 8:56 pm

Has anyone got any ideas??

I took my Bongo for an MOT and they informed me the N/S rear wheel brake was binding, so i checked it out and removed the brakes including the disc, so the hand brake shoes were exposed. The wheel turns forward fine but only turns by force in reverse.. There is no diff noise and in forward its fine but you can tell there is resistance when reversing..
I had replaced a wheel stud a few weeks ago so at first suspected it was a mistake when i put the hand brake shoes back together, but as previously explaned after removing thye brakes the problem is still there???

Has anyone any ideas?? All i can think is the diff is the problem? Has anyone had the same problem?

Is there any end float in the hub unit ? so that in reverse the float causes an issue within the diff ?

Not sure about the end float. I'm going to whip the disc off again and have a good look.

Can the end float be adjusted??

I've just had a look. There appears to be no issue with brakes inc. handbrake shoes. I disconected the propshaft to eliminate anything else. It seems just one wheel won't go back without a lot of force. I am guessing its definatly the diff?? Not sure if LSD or not can't see ant tags on it. Does anyone know any good axle people??
