Engine Fan Noise Got Louder.
Hi
Can anyone help
The fan that cools the engine seems to have got very loud all of a sudden, Does anyone know what causes this, is there a quick fix or a easy but of maintenance, I should be doing ?
I left the van to cool after a drive... started it up and all seems fine usual noises an hummings.
regards Mr P

Hi,
If your rad fan is coming on in this weather I would get to cooling system checked out.
Cheers.
What vehicle do you have?

when the fan switch wire is broken,or the plastic end of the switch breaks or is wobbly the fans can come on early.check the switch carefully.

If that is an unmodified temp gauge (i.e. Mason alarm not fitted) then I would be very concerned at that needle position. The needle of a healthy gauge sits at the 11.00 oclock position at all times once engine has warmed up. Get the car looked at ASAP I reckon and don't drive it until then if poss.

thats bad news, which garage are you using?
Hopefully a Bongo Friendly One.... or it will be if it does not cause me to loose and arm and a leg.

Re: Engine Fan Noise Got Louder.
I use Cartel because i know them, unfortunately due to my Ford being such a piece of c..p. They seem to do a proper job and if not bongo friendly if armed with the correct info would use it. I`m going in there on Thursday with the Ford again I can ask if they know what a bongo is may help you make an informed decision.

It is Cartel we are using, they are very close to use and were recommended to us, just saw the bongo last night when we went to get the Baby Seat out of it.lazyb5 wrote:I use Cartel because i know them, They seem to do a proper job and if not bongo friendly if armed with the correct info would use it. ALL in pieces
Getting expensive now reached £1000,88 about half a dozen items needed to repair it.......
hopefully comming home next week.

Re: Engine Fan Noise Got Louder.
I was there picking up the ford today they replaced the driveshaft/ gearbox oil seal free of charge. They replaced the driveshaft about 8 weeks ago. It was losing oil so they replaced the seal. With aftercare like that i`ll keep going back.
I spent £1000 last summer on the Ford for a new clutch and dual mass flywheel and then £250 quid on a driveshaft 8 weeks ago, so i guess £1000 on a 15 year old imported car isnt too bad but i can think of other things too spend the money on.
On a positive note at least you`ll have it back for the Rutland water meet in Feb, I also saw a blue over silver AFT driving into peterborough about 10.30 this morning I did wave but was in a red Peugeot.
Hope everything goes well and you are bongoing soon.
