Roof maintenance
My roof is working fine and goes up and down without problem but it occurs to me that it might be good to do a bit of preventative maintenance - like lubricating the moving parts. Does anyone have any experience of this - like what to lubricate, and what the best oils/greases are. I could just go down the WD40 route, but suspect some of the parts may benefit from something more sophisticated.
I live in horror of getting stuck somewhere with the roof jammed up.

Re: Roof maintenance
Somebody recommended silicone spray for the struts, which has worked fine on mine (it was juddering when operated).
Re: Roof maintenance
furniture polish is silicon based. and smells good to. just us light oil that will stop the judder.

Re: Roof maintenance
Clean off all the old muck with white spirit......then use white lithium spray grease (Halfords) this is less likely to stail the canvas if you get any on.

Has anyone successfully removed the black marks that the lifting mechanism causes on the AFT tent fabric?

I found wet wipes removed alot of the mess from the material.

Baby wipes did it for me! I don't know what we did before we had a kid, we use these things for everything!!

Re: Roof maintenance
sounds daft but Wd 40 does a good job so does pledge polish..
Re: Roof maintenance
Thanks all, I'll give it a try this weekend
Re: Roof maintenance
I need to do ours too, it goes up ok but is a bit creaky coming down.
Do I just raise the roof up and wipe over the struts with a cloth with polish/spray stuff on it?
Feel a bit daft asking tbh!

Re: Roof maintenance
I think this came up last year, someone said WD40 isn't such a good idea as it tends to damage the seals on the rams after a while . . . . .
I use this stuff on the rams & runners.

Works a treat!
