Under sealing/Wax oil
hi there. just had a service today done by Adrian in Bury . you can find his number on the Manchester Campers site.
I highly recommend him, ive never met such an Honest Guy as him in the Motor trade.
Anyway the he recommends that before winter that i get her undersealed or wax oiled as the underside of mine is very good and should be done to protect her. I live in the Northwich area of cheshire and would like to get her done, can any of you fine Bongoers put me on to anyone ? or is it a job i could do myself.
thanks
Gary

Re: Under sealing/Wax oil
You can do it yourself but it is very messy, I had mine done near st albans by rust master who have a few depots across the country.
To have it done by them cost about £400.

These are close but never used them http://www.rustmaster.co.uk/index_45607.htm, http://www.vehiclerustproofing.co.uk/?g ... lAodPH6VlQ, http://115.124.111.172/chassisclean/?q=node/39.
Re: Under sealing/Wax oil
Hi I am not far from you in Winsford and I can definitely recommend Wheelquick at Wigan give them a call. They did mine prior to me picking it up from them when I bought it.

Re: Under sealing/Wax oil
You could give ChassisClean
a shout as they are not far from you in Altrincham.

They did mine last year and did a fantastic job. The bloke even gave me a lift back to Stretford (6 miles) after I dropped the Bongo off.

Re: Under sealing/Wax oil
I'm a new Bongo owner and the previous owner claimed the underside had been waxoyled. I'm not convinced it has, as although it looks quite solid, there is surface rust on most of it.
What is the best treatment to prevent further degredation of the underside?
Many thanks,
Dave, Elaine & The Ginnébago

This has been asked before and you'll find some advice, ON THIS LINKthe smoker wrote: or is it a job i could do myself.
If it's been waxoyled it should have waxoyl on it, you'll see (and you can feel) a generally clear or black coating on the metal.I'm a new Bongo owner and the previous owner claimed the underside had been waxoyled. Without a doubt, go to Wheelquick
Re: Under sealing/Wax oil
If it has been done it's worn off now. I'd think it's worth doing again, as for corrosion to happen surely the metal has to come into contact with oxygen (including H2O) so any rust present should not detoriorate further. Obviously a good rub down of the underside would help the sealing process.Doone wrote:This has been asked before and you'll find some advice, ON THIS LINKthe smoker wrote: or is it a job i could do myself. If it's been waxoyled it should have waxoyl on it, you'll see (and you can feel) a generally clear or black coating on the metal.I'm a new Bongo owner and the previous owner claimed the underside had been waxoyled. However, I've seen comments that contradict this - have I got it wrong? I don't want the underside of my Bongo to look like a VW in a few years if I can prevent it.
