took my van for mot it passed hurray.but the temperature gauge showing
hot hot hot.expansion tank, bubbling over.changed thermostat,did not see a lot wrong with the old one.filled it back up with coolant .took the thingey out of bleed pipe .no change coolant seems not to be moving .heating on full
cold air comes out and a bit of a screech when i start her up and the van
where do i go from here? shall i change the water pump next ?and is it easy job for a novice .

Well I have not had much to do with the water pump, Andy have you checked the belts as suggested?
When you opened up the bleed pipe, did you not get any water flow, I wonder if you may have a blockage somewhere, perhaps the radiator needs a flush out. When I had my overheating problems I Flushed and better flushed the radiator, replaced the thermostat, the radiator cap, and a dodgy looking hose. My old thermostat was a little slow to open, my waterpump is a little noisy, but I was told it only sloshes a little water about, by a fellow in the know! I am sure someone will tell me the opposite. I have no experience of removing the waterpump, but sure other members will be able to help you. good luck

overheating
flushed rad out,did not see any see gunk come out though topped the ystem back up seems to have done the trick heaters are working again
gauge staying in middle,coolant circulating.belt a bit loose could not figger
how to tighten it s the one under the alternator what is that just under the alternator anyway its got 4 goldy copper thin bolts holding it on
