"Hold" warning light

"Hold" warning light
As a newbie, can anyone tell me what the "Hold" warning light above the (erratic) temperature gauge means? Many thanks

I means you've pushed the Hold button on the side of the gear lever
This will stop it from reaching top gear. Push the button again and the light should go out
