Intermittent wipers

Post by Bigcol » Mon Feb 15, 2010 7:27 pm

Hi dudes. The intermittent jobbie on the wipers of my Bongo does not work (never has in the few months we have owned it). The wipers run full time if I move the stalk to intermittent. Being the lazy sod that I am, I'm getting tired of keep moving the stalk up and down in our drizzle soaked nation. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks.

May sound daft, but does yours have the little adjustment ring thingy on it (there must be a proper name). One way the intermittent is very intermittent, and the other way it's almost "normal". Don't know if all the Bongos have them, but it might be worth twiddling it if yours does.

Just a thought!

Obvious first.

Have you twisted the adjuster on the stalk all the way round. At one end of the scale its pretty much constant. the other way its every 5 or 6 seconds . . . .

Ah, but in my haste to get in there first, I used the word "thingy" which is NOT a technical term

If the Low & High speeds and One Shot work and the wipers return to the Home position OK, then there isn't anything amiss with the wiring which means that it can only involve the actual Stalk and the timer module which appears to be built in to the stalk itself.

Geoff is rarely wrong.

Suggest new stalk. Luckily both Ebygum32 & Tonic are both breaking Bongos at the moment - suggest a subtle Pm . . . .
