NO Worries daz, are you going to get your freda waxoyled, i would say it is important if you are planning on keeping your freda and you like her rust free body work

im planning getting mine done as im sure if i left it the wheel arches will be bubbling up give it a couple of years.
the only thing holding me back at the moment is the money.

if you are thinking of getting it done maybe we could get it done cheaper if we both approach rustmaster . what do you think?

Yes, you need to be especially sure to get waxoyl down into the seam between the wheel arch and outer wing seam I think as that's where I suspect the rot starts. A sprayer may not deliver it well in that area unless (1) you soak the area and (2) the waxoyl is runny enough to wick along and into the seam nicely. I felt mine had insufficient in that area and did a DIY by dripping Kurust through the hole when the rear cubbys were removed, left it a day, then dripped engine oil in there. I use a plastic bottle with a straw on so I could deliver the stuff some way into the recess, above the seam. I'm hoping it proves effective but time will tell

sounds like your gonna win the battle of the dreaded rust with your approach.....

i know the wheel arches are a perticular hot spot for the dreaded rot rot
this is next on my to do list as i hate rust and dont want my baby infected

I think the fire in me engine has gone out. Daymos got a great voice esp. if you get him on the right song. We ought to do more but he's busy, I'm busy, we get older and lazier. You know how it is (or maybe you don't! )

what with you telling me you have to make the best of your 'licks 'these days,,you removing cubby's in the back of your bongo to 'inject fluids' - i have a close relationship with my freda but i draw the line there mike,,,, your wife is probably jealous or glad you take out your frustrations of yer bongo

Not cheap but should be a pleasure to see the work they do plus for a car like a Bongo it is a good investment and may even help its sale value esp. if these things stay popular for years to come. Meanwhile it gives peace of mind. Ask them what can be done about getting waxoyl right down into the rear wheel arch seams

Rustmaster are good so you are in safe hands.

Additionally ask Michael (I think that is his name) about taking out a few of the grommits along the inside of the sills and injecting some wax in there whilst he's at it.

Mike, am I right in thinking you should also remove the rear lamps and inject via the rubber grommits that the wiring goes through?

I'm not an expert on it I fear. In the main, I trust to these quality ouftits to know in general terms what to remove in order to gain access, and to take time doing it, but even @£450 or so for the job I reckon its a good idea to bring areas of known weakness to their attention so they know you know and may scrutinise the work afterwards (e.g. easy to spot/sample check, but not to do the work, by removing rear cubbies). etc. etc.

Kirsty (and others) will know lots about this if she can remember it as she stripped out the rear of her Bongo

hi bongo dudes!
well shes all done and im very pleased with the job thats been done.
the guys at rustmaster did a very thorough job with the underseal and protecting the cavities and panels with the 360 deg sprayer and didnt mind me sticking my nose in,,,,took ages to get that black sticky stuff off my hooter
made sure they didnt spray the breather on the rear diff
i spent a few hours today cleaning all the over spray off the body work and wheels.cant have everything i suppose
i also notised the brakes were not quite as effective on the way home,again put it down to wax mist settling on the discs,this will sort itself out in time i guess
has anyone else experienced this after having the treatment?

overall would highly recommend rustmaster,and have peace of mind now that my lovely freda is protected from all that salt that gets sprayed on the roads this time of year
