silly question - where is the jack?

Post by karlos » Fri Nov 20, 2009 4:02 pm

Taking a group of friends out tommorow - dont want to come unstuck!

Where is the jack normally found looked in the obvious places (like in other vans) --except obviously not behind or under the front seats-.

No voids in drivers or passenger foot well or space behind lower dash not in bonnet? I'm sure the guy said it had one. I presume the jack handle doubles up as the tool to wind the spare wheel down?

Extension bar is often clipped to the 'Roof' of this little cubby hole, and not immediately obvious.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

why didnt I think of that.

-found it (thats what I expected to find in the driver footwell or passenger) I supose taking into account the engine position and design of the engine bay not possible.

I dont think I've got the stock kit though.

1)a blue small bottle jack
2)a (cheap)half inch drive rachet with a normal length handle with no extension bar(no clearance between the handle and wheel) - obviously the rachet will give up the first time I have to step on it if the wheel nut's have not been off in a while.
3)what looks like a home made tyre lowering device -in a thin wall tube that you have to put a screwdriver throught to turn.(does fit the vans lowering system though)

"This is not what I expected to find - having owned and driven more than just a few vehicles with this kind of spare wheel system and ground clearance!

I expect at least some if not all of this is not genuine.

might chuck in my braker bar and small trolley jack just incase for now! (infact I will do it now before I forget)

Thanks again guys!

this is what you should have, with the long bar clipped onto the roof of the step.

This kit does come available (worth trying the known breakers) should you want it, but I'd just cary a trolley jack and socket set.

You'll need the extension bar for lowering the spare, but it's easily fabricated.
