Hold Light flashing and Speedo not working

Post by mike2564 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:16 pm

Any ideas, got up this morning, Bongo started fine, and was performing ok, the hold light began to flash and the speedo stopped working. I switched it off and re started further down the road.. now all ok... why? Mike

Have a search on here but I recall it being explained that the autobox takes a signal from the speedo. If the speedo has been 'chipped' to get KPH into MPH and if a connection goes dodgy (or summat like that) then the autobox gets a dodgy signal and the HOLD light registers a fault. Should not be a serious thing to get fixed but have a search for best advisce on what to do.

Good luck - keep us posted. 8)

If you have installed any electrical items connecting to the back of the dash - E.g some alarms, speedo chip, check that the connections are still OK - I had problem with mine which was down to a dodgy connection. All sorted now.

This happened to me - dodgy speedo connection. Hard thump on the dash top above the speedo fixed it - for a while - until I got around to (carefully) tightening the connections

I had this same problem too, and my speedo was fitted with a chip. It only occurred once in a while, and when it did I just switched the ignition off and re-started the engine. Cured it every time. Eventually I fitted a speedo from a Mazda 626 and it never happened again.

We're off to Bala this weekend also - may see you around. We're in a white AFT.
