Wind noise from tops of doors
Our Bongo seems to suffer from excessive wind noise around the tops of the doors. Is this a known problem and is there an easy fix?

Re: Wind noise from tops of doors
I think this is reasonably common, noticed mine starting to get a bit draughty. I seem to remember someone, Bigdaddycain I think, rolling the window down & applying a bit of leverage to the top of the door to bend it in a smidge, haven't got around to trying it myself yet.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Suffer from the same, but just at speed with the wind in the right direction. I too hav'nt tried bending the frame a little. ( keep on forgetting to do so
)
I wonder if the wind deflectors make it worse?

Re: Wind noise from tops of doors
Lots of discussion about that on here in the past - have a search. Some seem to get it more than others. I've only had it once I think (on my drivers side door) when a good wind was blowing 45 degrees or so across my left bow and travelling at 65 mph or so. Fully healthy Bongos don't seem to get it

I did a search and only found threads regarding wind noise from roof racks.mikeonb4c wrote:Lots of discussion about that on here in the past - have a search. Some seem to get it more than others. Our Bongo suffers on both doors. It is probably only at 60 and above but seems to occur quite often.
Sat inside with the doors closed I can fit my fingers in the gap at the top between the door frame and vehicle body.

Thanks, sounds like I need to try bending the tops of the doors and put some vaseline on the seals.missfixit70 wrote:See my link above
just to add I can get my fingers in the gap whether the car is doing 60 or is stationary.

Haven't tried doing that with mine but something doesnt sound right. Proceed with caution on door bending. Maybe PM bigdaddycain (if it was he who tried it) and ask his advice on how best to do it before rushing aheadEddyH wrote:Thanks, sounds like I need to try bending the tops of the doors and put some vaseline on the seals.missfixit70 wrote:See my link above

Hi
Do NOT put vaseline on door rubbers...it can cause a breakdown of the seal...if anything, use rubber lubricant, or preferably, talc. in dry weather
Cheers

Re: Wind noise from tops of doors
The top sections of the doors are surprizingly flimsy, and are quite easily "teased" back a tad... I only suffered it on my drivers door, and i only tickled it back just the once, which seemed to do the trick!mikeonb4c wrote:Haven't tried doing that with mine but something doesnt sound right. Open the door, grab just above the handle with your right hand, getting ready to pull...Grab the door top with your left hand ready to push...Use the same amount of force on the top and the middle, then tease it till you see the door "arc". Please do open your window fully, and i take no responsibility for the window shattering, or you injuring yourself!
