Towing an automatic bongo
I'm off to festival where it often gets bogged down (crappy forecast too) and some cars require a tow out. Is it safe to tow a 2.5 diesel automatic for a short distance with the tranmission in neutral?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Cheers Max, assuming keeping the engine running lubricates the gearbox.

And don't exceed 20mph.

Surely if you're being towed out, you'll want to assist with a bit of drive (or rather into L1) when you can?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

That's right it can be in drive, gentle revs so you don't bury it in the mud.

If you are anticipating a `tow`,I assume you have a 2WD,but you havent confirmed that in your post.
If you actually have a 4WD,you`ll be surprised just how good it is to get you off a muddy field.
Ive got off plenty with my caravan on the back, when others have struggled.

I've never needed a tow yet with my 2wd
& the worst camps mudwise, I've been towing a fairly heavy trailer.
