Re: electric sliding door
Not all sliding doors on bongo's close automatically.
and its only the last inch or so that the mechanism takes over to tighten the door shut .
might be worth checking fuse no 17 15amp ,you never know might be an easy fix.

Re: electric sliding door
mine was the same never worked since i bought it ,striped of the door panel just to make sure it had it in the first place which it did, i used a whole can of spray lube into the latch area into both sides and after some tooing and frooing with the door and it eventually started to work. good luck.

Re: electric sliding door
My slider stopped working a few weeks ago. After a bit of investigation i found the contacts on the door and pillar had become dirty (The ones that move in and out like trumpet keys!). Gave 'em a clean up with a bit of garryflex and bingo, working like a new one!
Might be worth a try.

This is interesting - on my 96 Freda 2 of the spring-loaded "organ stops" on the body are fixed I wasn't sure if they did anything but would like to know if they should be spring loaded like the others? If they are I'll try to persuade them to work again!

Re: electric sliding door
A couple of them don't move. I think they might be fixed to detect when it gets to the end location.
Re: electric sliding door
My view is it's nothing but a pain, just draws from your battery every time you close it.
I honestly think you're better off just closing it manualy, no down side to that.

yeah but its cool to show off that little nugget to a VW neighbour on site. Their face is a picture when they see my lazy man door. lolBob wrote:My view is it's nothing but a pain, just draws from your battery every time you close it.

Re: electric sliding door
I think the Honda StepWagon has a fully electric door so you only have to push the handle & it opens all the way up.
Re: electric sliding door
ooo, could we modify for a bongo you think? now thats truly the lazy many door. i dont care about battery drain, il fit another in the back for that. lmaoSimon Jones wrote:I think the Honda StepWagon has a fully electric door so you only have to push the handle & it opens all the way up.
