Mystery Leak - to me anyway!

Post by Mibongo » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:05 am

Good Morning,

Can anyone help?
Beneath my Bongo from the drivers side there a leaky (flexible?) pipe which I think comes from the front and enters what I would call a sump - just to the right of the auto cable lever.

Is there a simple way to change this pipe without the fluid going everywhere?
What is this pipe?
Where do I top up any loss or refill (and with what?).

Any info would be very helpful.

Rob

There are a lot of pipes on a Bongo :!: Might help if you could put up a picture, I assume its a diesel and not a V6 ? What is the substance that's leaking, is it coloured, does it smell ?

I think you could be talking about the TOP HOSE (cylinder head to metal pipe)
If this is the case you will lose a large amount of coolant when you replace it.
Do not attempt this job unless you are 100% sure you know how to bleed the cooling system when you refill.
DO NOT take it to "any old" garage to have the job done unless they have worked on Bongos before.
Be Warned !!! Bongos are not the same as the normal vehicles they work on and if this job is not done correctly it can cost loads in repairs.

Hi Westernwarrior,

Thanks for "the you tube link does not work but you copy the given link in photobucket and past it in the message" BUT I am very new to this and so if you could translate into Basic English I might be your debt forever.

Thanks to everyone!

So if it's ATF can the pipe be easily changed?

Or should I remove the pipe, replace, drain the lot and refill?
