Bongo is making a humming noise

Post by technobollocks » Mon Jun 29, 2009 8:41 pm

Hi, not sure if anyone can help remotely, but the Bongo is making a humming noise when it gets to 40 mph, it goes if I go much faster and doesn't happen any slower. Any ideas about what it could be?
Its a 96 automatic diesel if that helps.
Thanks

It isn't pulling or anything and it just went through an mot, though they thought the exhaust was blowing a little but was sooted up. Could the exhaust be making the noise?
I'll get the wheel bearings checked, thanks :D
Is that expensive by the way? Being a lass I always like a ball park figure before I go to a garage or they tend to do much in drawn breath through the teeth!

Transmission whine is my bet. Check/change fluid for starters.

HAve a look at the tread on your front tyres - they can have flat spots and rasied tread - mine has always done it and can cause a thrumming noise as you go along. I understand it's a sign of vc on the way out - but I've had mine for over four years and its still okay - very quickly touches a bit of wood.

I'm not fitting van tryes next time too.

And 205's all round I think.
