17 ''s offset 52.5?
hello everyone! I need some advice please, I had planned to get some RX8 18' alloys for my bongo, but after trawling through the forum, I am now considering 17'' ( because it is cheaper and easier to find tyres with sufficient load rating etc) the problem is that the ones I've seen are 114 stud diameter but the offset is 52.5. the seller tells me he has sold loads of this size to Bongo owners and they should just fit straight on. does anyone have this size offset for 17''s? and will they have any effect with regards m.o.t etc?
thanks
thanks

Those wheels will fit straight on, the offset increases in millimeters as the wheels go wider. The bigger offset number for the wheels still fall within the tolerance from a "will my wheels stick out from the arches" point of view. They won't protude too far, and won't catch the bodywork.

cheers Bigdaddy, and they'll still be legal and no problems with M.o.t?

No problem whatsoever... I think wheels have to protude half an inch or so proud of wheelarches before it becomes a legal issue. The RX8 wheels still sit comfortably inside the arches on a bongo.

while your online, can I ask you if Mazda do 17''s with a smaller offset, the same as the 18''s?

I hadn't realised the RX8 offset was that much bigger than standard 40mm
- now that's going to have an adverse effect on the vehicle safety in the event of a blowout or a brake failure!

It's only 12.5 mm more dandy! My bongo was VERY stable on RX8's... I think most other peeps with them will agree that the bongo behaves much better on them than on standard sized wheels, the biggest drawback seems to be the extra associated road noise with the (usually) wider than standard tyres...

Hi chris, yes... But the offset of both the 17" and 18" inch wheels are the same at 52.5mister munkey wrote:These aren't RX8s oshys talking about here surely, just something with similar looks but a 17?oshkosh wrote: I had planned to get some RX8 18' alloys for my bongo, but after trawling through the forum, I am now considering 17''
