It could have been any time before you're ownership doby - pinpricking means its coming from inside.

The garage doing the work is replacing the lot and I'm getting a thorough flush out etc done etc. Hopefully a chance to (expensively) move on!

A bit of an update (may be handy for others):

Leak was due to a rusty core plug - all sorted but after the garage bled the system, I was still getting a slight coolant loss from the breather tube. Bongo went back into the garage, system was bled again, still getting pressurisation in the header tank. Sniffer test showed the head was OK, so coolant was dropped and new thermostat was fitted, system was refilled and all sorted. Also, fans were running constant as the sensor was knackered, this was replaced.

Now all ok [-o<

I think it's running the coolest that the engine has run. Ian has a very reassuring attitude to matters bongo as has the Mikes at Wheelquick. Quite reassuring to have decent firms like those around.
