noticed recently that the steering seems a bit more spongey and less sharp
wahst the usual culprits that could be causing these symptoms?

Check the fluid level under the drivers seat (ATF ), if it's dropped - check for leaks.

thanks for that, ill check at home (started riding the push bike to workie :S) is there diffrent grades of ATF? the guys in the unit opposite sell it, i might aswell pick some up just incase

Just get a good quality ATF. If it's not leaking, the ATF can deteriorate and should be changed approx every 2 years.

all they had over in the other unit was PSF (power steering fluid) it says its compatible with most ATF's......should be ok right? :S

Have you looked at the anti roll bar bushes and links, the Bongo will wallow around corners and over dips and bumps if they are shot.

Another obvious is tyre presures.
Mine had dropped by 10 psi since christmas, much better with a pump up. . . . .
