bonnet prop thingy

ok the wind caught my bonnet theother day when it was open and propped up on its stick thingy (proper techie terms here)

it snapped the plastic hinge and dented my bonet at the same time

ive got a new plastic hinge bit but i have no idea how to fit.....any pointers?

The same thing happened to me last year when I broke down on the Western Isle during a storm. The plastic retainer for the bonnet stay sort of slides into place. It took a bit of fiddling about before I cottoned on how to do it.

If I remember correctly, I had to fit the rod into the plastic thing before it went into the hole in the bonnet - I know it took me a while to figure it out

I think you fit it in & twist it into position. I'll try to get a photo tomorrow of it in position (if I remember).

Sorry about the delay in posting these pictures. As far as I can see, the plastic clip fits into the hole & is then rotated until it clicks into place as shown below:

Worked for me after a little fiddling with the clip to get it in the right position.
Had to put the clip in first about 90 deg anti-clockwise from its finishing position, then rotate clockwise into correct position as shown in the photo. The put straightest end of arm in on the horizontal pointing out to the right, after which you move it 180 deg clockwise into it's correct position.
