Which Glowplugs Do You Use?

Post by Ian » Thu Nov 13, 2008 11:50 am

I spoke to Dandywarhol about this yesterday, and he told me that he has never had any problem with NGK plugs, but when he's used ADM-Blueprint plugs in the past, they had a tendency to blow. So I thought I would conduct a poll, and find out if there is a serious reliability issue with the Blueprint plugs.

BTW, the relevant parts numbers for the 83mm plugs are ADM 51805, NGK Y701J and Durite DU013026.

You may select up to 2 answers in this poll.

I've just replaced a couple of Blueprints which had failed in 6 months. I also changed a couple of Bprints last year which were fairly new.

More worrying was when an unknown brand with a green band around the top and the number FC5320 stamped on it - the complete "glow" part of the plug came adrift and dropped into the pre-combustion chamber

Also had to replace a set of Blueprint plugs after 12 months due to poor starting :x replaced them with a set of Genesis twin coil glow plugs - no problems with them up to now after nearly 12 months. :)

I suspect my plugs are duff (or at least one of them is) so once I have checked which ones are fitted (van has a new cyl head) I will be ordering the NKG (not heard of the Genesis - must be a bit noisy with Phil Collins drumming all the time they are on  )

last week i fitted 4x adk81801(blueprint)102mm glowplugs to rectify poor starting from cold.
previous plugs were in when we got the bongo so i dont know how old they are(but at least a couple of years old)and cannot make out which brand they are.
will just have to see how it goes with the new ones 8)
the voices made me do it!
