Fuel guage could just be the earth on the sender unit? There were a few posts a while back with detailed instructions on wiring a new earth, so try a search. Cleaning the earth contacts solved my under-reading gauge for a bit, but I need to rewire for a permanent solution when I get a chance..

as above for the fuel guage ,usually an earth wire.
the window might be an even easier fix, a can of silicon spray/grease and spray it into the window runners, worked for me.
Lost without my Bongo.

Ahhhhh!!!!

I've had a fuel gauge problem for a while. Expecting it to be simply an earth problem, when I finally lifted the carpets and fitted an alternative earth, I was miffed to find that the gauge was still not working. Digging out my trusty multi-meter, I established that the original earth was fine, although the voltage I got using both the original and new earth was around 3 volts. Should I have been getting 12 volts?

Anyway, convinced that the earth was ok, I turned my attention to the sender (removed). Twiddling the dial on my multi-meter, I figured that resistance didn't vary as I move the float. Working on the theory that the sender works as a variable resistor, I thought I'd found my problem, only have replaced the sender I'm still running on empty! :x

I've taken out the dashboard and checked all the connectors there - nothing. I'm now out of ideas and am wondering whether there is anything obvious I can do to try and fix the problem.

Many thanks.

Haven't got a fix for your problem, but as a stop-gap if you zero the trip meter when you fill up, topping up at 250 miles should give you a good reserve.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.
