Post by heatherpetch » Wed Oct 08, 2008 7:43 pm

Hi guys, can you confirm that the expansion tank top when you press the release button that it should pop back up on it's own  i am not sure if we have a problem or not #-o we keep losing a small amount of water no overheating probs, but when we topped up the tank today Garry noticed that the black button on the cap was pressed in,so should it be in or out  we think in so i hope you techie peeps out there can clear up the confusion please :D cheers Heather

#-o ok then here is what we think if we press the black button it releases the pressure then if its sticking down the system is not pressurised  so this might be the cause of the water dissapearing instead of the pressure building as it should i think  its allowing water to escape, this only happens when the bongo has worked hard up hill etc, normal flat driving no loss #-o there is defo no overheating going on all hoses are ok,cheers confused.com

I'd get a proper cap Heather - the one you've got doesn't sound standard at all - mine's the same as the others here.

i think you have the wrong pressure cap on the tank, it should look like the one in Trev's photo, YELLOW ON THE TANK AND RED ON THE RADIATOR.

you should not be losing water from the cap, it sounds like you just press it to release the pressure before you take the cap off. you may have a small leak elsewhere.

Might lose some if this button isn't sealing properly Dave.
I'd have thought that a cap should be available at your local car spare shop - surely they're not specific to a Bongo :? :?

Right Dave - I've never seen or heard of one either :? It sounds dangerous if you should accidentally push the button when system is still hot and pressurised
