And yes, about snipping the wires, I would definitely do it one and a time and ensure not to short them

No harm disconnecting the alarm to see how the gauge works (or doesn't!) without it. But you only need to disconnect, or switch, the blue wire. The other two are just V+ and 0V.

I changed the method of construction recently, an improved circuit board which aligns the adjuster knob more precisely within the box. However one consequence is that it is shifted slightly clockwise, so if 4.5 was the most common setting you may find that recently-bought ones often end up set nearer 5. But as someone said temp gauge systems will vary from car to car as well, so just find the setting you need and don't worry much if it's different from someone else's.

Hi i have a TM2 fitted like the one Ian is selling and find it great ...( its been in over a year) I think the big bonus is its totally independent of the bongos system, and mine appears to be spot on on temp ...i don't think you can go wrong with a totally independent system showing digital temp and an alarm. I just myself don't trust the bongos gauge and sender unit even it its been modded, tweaked, revamped or re-designed I also spotted 2 items possibly useable on a bongo note the gauge has a built in temp alarm ......many thanks Rich

Hi Dave,

Yeah I've just noticed that the blue wire is the only one that needs to be switched.

I have now connected mine in such a way that I can switch it on or off (as in completely isolate it) so I can see the Bongo default reading as well. The guage just literally drops back from 1 oclock to 11 instantly.

This was purely for my peace of mind, not that I don't trust your design!!!

Plus i now have a cool little switch box
