hole in the roof

Post by meek.tv » Fri Aug 22, 2008 1:56 pm

ive been considering the best way to mount the aerial for my dash mounted monitor

i think i want it to go up behind the passenger side panel next to the windscreen and up into the aft with enough spare cable for it to attach to the top of the aft so that i can raise it up when needed.
problem is, how do i get it up there, has anyone drilled a hole through to the cabin from upstairs?

There's plenty of room behind the panel by the windscreen, if i remember rightly unbolt the grab handle & unclip the trim..
You will find a wiring loom & the rear wash hose...

I ran the cabling for the alarm sensors behind mine from under the dash!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

If you don't mind the extra cable run, then if you run it to the back of the vehicle in the roof, remove the cabling blank (slotted plastic blank on each side of roof lining), then you can easily reach the existing grommet thru the roof that the AFT cabling takes. Then your free to run it up behind the rails to anywhere on the external underside of the roof.

No worries about slack cable as it comes down then, also no problem to drill thru to the outside surface without any fear that water will get into the tented area!

heres the quick way:-

Aerial is £9.99 ( maplins)and works with my LCD TV but my TV is rear mounted above side kitchen unit
note
I've since removed the mag mount magnet and drilled and fitted direct into the rear spoiler
you have to be careful you can open the rear door and roof together without smashing the aerial! ( so its bolted at the rear of the spoiler

heres where you get into the roof void , via the rear wash wipe hole

hope that helps
