er not sure what I've started here but there is some more food for thought. I've got the Bongo back tonight and the engine looks amazing with all the red pipes... Now the bad news. My engine has certainly had hardly any anti freeze in it at some point in its life.. possibly overheating before...
The evidence is in the STEEL pipes that the new tubes connect to. I'll take a pic of one tomorrow but one had to be cut a good 1" back in order to get some decent metal to clamp the new pipes on to. There were many other steel pipes that looked very poor condition internally, seeping at weld spots etc.
The Garage have done a great job but really I should consider replacing the Steel pipes, I'm told by the garage (and they are very very respectible, familey member works for me etc) that the Bore Caps, on the engine are also seeping at the moment as they have corroded from the inside....
Now I've got to consider, should I just let the engine be, run it accepting that one day I will get a leek. If I do, the alarm will do its job and warn me if there is a low water issue when I turn the engine on. OR do I look into replacing as many steel pipes as possible...where would I stop on "renovating" the engine ?
mmmmmmm, I love my Bongo though
