Ciggy socket wiring modification

Having fitted my leisure battery & changed stereo, ciggy sockets, blinds & intereior lights over to it, I realised I actually wanted a ciggy socket supply that came on with the ignition too I had a brainwave that others have probably done already, but I don't recall reading about it.
I figured that having taken out the fuse for the ciggy sockets & put the LB supply in the bottom to supply a permanent feed to the existing sockets, the now unused top fuse connection would still have a supply available switched from the ignition. So I got a 3 way ciggy socket adapter, connected an inline fuse & a thin terminal connector, slotted it in the top connection on fuse 8 ( I think), earthed the other lead from the ciggy socket adapter & there you go a separate ignition switched supply for the stuff you don't want running when the ignition is off. It's all hidden out of the way under the dash, so now I have my rubbish magnet cubby hole empty again

funny you mention that Kirsty.
I took a fused feed from the back of my existing lighter & ran to a double to behind the panel under the steering wheel for me sat nav & hands free charger..
No wires trailing over the dash & the original lighter socket is still free to use!

I'm not a fan of gadget clutter.

Hi, I have just fitted the willinton kit on Tuesday and after reading your post thought whether the cigarette lighter would work with engine on. So last night went out and tested cool box at rear outlet and it works with ignition on or off. Great.

Just went out to get something from van this morning and found I'd left the empty cool box on all night. The air was lovely and cold in all that empty space. This has shown that a 110 amp Numax leisure battery can power a cool box for at least 10 hours. There was no sign of overheating wires either.

The idea of putting extra sockets in glove compartment with wires out the way is good. When I have time..........
