Removal of hatch hinges!

Post by Magwa » Tue May 13, 2008 10:02 pm

Having used the top to sleep in on my last holiday I found the closure of the hatch a real bind when two full sized adults were up top.

Today I drilled out/ off the pop rivets that hold the hatch so now it can be slid into place rather than used in the conventional way

MUCH BETTER, MUCH MUCH BETTER.

I can say its a neat trick to close and much more convienient now

I may not be the first to think of it but anybody else with the same problem

GET YOUR DRILL OUT

I'll second that, did exactly the same a few months back, much simpler :D
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Almost the first thing I did to my Bongo - the lift up flap is a real pain.

Removing the hinge pins is very easy and they can be replaced if needed.

,

Too much sticky outiness going on for me just taking the pins out (I'm a clumsy mare, if there's a possibility of catching myself on something I will) , couldn't see a need to put them back with any urgency, so took the tidier option, but like you say Haydn, much easier to take the pins out :D

With the hinges removed there nothing sharp to catch yourself or the expensive mattress on
I've got a pop rivit tool so if I ever want to put them back on I can
BUT Why?
