Help.... re glow plugs

Post by garycure » Mon Apr 14, 2008 7:22 pm

Dear all im seeking your advice re a problem that i have created regards my glow plugs. I replaced the plugs but the new ones were shorter than the old ones in the main body (not actual plug end). It would seem that this has caused the bar which goes across the plugs to touch the fuel injectors and fuse out. I have looked at the fuse diagrams and there is no problem with number 18 fuse (for glow plugs). Has anyone any ideas where i go next ? Maybe the relevant relay? Any help greatfully received as im about to head of on a trip:)
Many Thanks
Gary

the glow plug relay is under the bonnet, bolted on the side of the inner wheel arch at the back of the battery, mine has a clear plastic sleve over it

hope it helps

Thanks for this, i can see x2 relays covered by black ribber for protection, are these the ones? They sit behind the battery on the inner whell arch. Or is there another one i have missed?

It's the rear one - nearest the bulkhead. You should hear it click when you turn the ignition on.
