Sliding door closure

Post by Ame » Sat Mar 15, 2008 5:19 pm

Sorry in advance if this is a repeated subject.
My sliding door quiet closure system doesnt work. The previous owner had a Viper Alarm and central locking system fitted and Im just wondering if this is the likely cause of it not working.
Anyone got any thoughts or experience of the same thing?

Try cleaning the brass plunger contacts with some fine emery cloth & make sure the ones that move are moving freely, squirt of wd40? do the runners top & bottom while you're at it.
Is the door itself opening & closing ok, ie not getting stuck in the locked position?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Also check fuse under the dash and the wires between the drivers door and pillar.

Thanks for replies, the door and lock works fine its just the soft/quiet closure system that's not working. Gave it all a clean which made no difference.
Will try to locate wires and have a jiggle!

Daft question time

Has it ever worked?
Some were made without the soft closing , if you have 5 contacts 3 are sprung then you have the electric closing doors if you just have 2 then sorry to say you dont.

fuses are my guess

AAhhh, that'll be it- I only have the two pins so guess it has never worked. Do you know what the little switch in the door is for then? (I assumed it was something to do with the closure system).

Small switch on the edge of door itself is for the child lock to prevent it being opened from the inside.
