Lots of debate about this and whether uprated ones are illegal / MOT failure and/or may damage the (plastic) headlamp covers. If you have a Fender Defender Bar (we dont call them bullbars) fitted, I'd heartily recommend a pair of good spots (I have some compact 100W ones) wired into to work with main beam (haven't done that yet but will) as being a good workaround 8)

Well how about 50% brighter, Xenon Blue, 60/55 watt H4 headlamp bulbs, at £4.00 a pair all in. If you are interested I have 4 sets left from my fab "What" shop. Happy and bright motoring as seen by several members on here. lol.

Plenty of bulbs on the market paul, a lot of them claim as much as 50% increase in light output... You pays yer money...

I have some "all weather" bulbs in at the moment, they give a yellowish/purplish light, and do seem to be brighter in the bad weather, i reckon they will be brill in fog....

Steady as you go with the headlight plug removal bica, those plugs are really stuck on there with some bongo's, a little patience and the odd "wiggle" seems to help release them.

Cheers BDC - thanks for the tip

I fitted one of Alant54's prototype roof racks at the weekend (the one I out bid you for on the NW/Yorkshire crew charity auction  ). I am very impressed with both the GRP concept and the build quality. Hope to bring it up north to one of your meets when the weather is better

i agree :D , they dont look visibly brighter when you look at them if anything they look duller, but i think this is because they have a blue tint to them but they illuminate alot more of the road :D

I find my original Bongo lights plenty bright enough!

I would be inclined to put a meter on the connectors, and just check the voltage reaching the bulbs - and then compare that reading with the actual battery voltage.

Could be there is a voltage drop through the switch / connectors that is limiting the voltage.

If this was the case - it would be fairly easy to introduce a relay into the circuit to regain those lost volts.
