trip switch on leisure battery

Post by tattoodaisy » Thu Feb 14, 2008 2:08 pm

My mechanic suggested that he put a trip switch on the leisure battery instead(i think) of fuses as suggested on previous threads. Does this sound like a good idea ?

or a blade circuit breaker-but not sure if i need 1 of these for each fuse eg 1 for light 1 for cig lighter.

His reasoning was that in the dark it would be a lot easier than to press reset than replace a fuse

When you first start the engine, there is probably a short initial current surge when the charging relay closes.

Fuses are slow to react and are able to cope with this surge. Trips react much faster and may trip on the initial surge.

If this were the case, you would never charge your leisure battery !!!!.
