Fuel pump seems partially blocked

Hi,

I had my Bongo serviced before Christmas, running sweet and pulling well. A few days later noticed slight fuel leak. Found it was seals around fuel pump. Got them replaced, then the fun started!
The garage grunt unwittingly put sealant around the new seals, and this seems to have got squished, and some sucked into the pump. Now it won't go over 3000 revs and is VERY underpowered, as you would expect with fuel starvation.
I went back, and reluctantly, the garage tried to sort it by blowing air through etc. After 3 weeks i got it back with, "try that" (still no better!), and "by the way, I've sold garage" from the owner....
So now i have under performing Bongo and no one to go and do a Victor Meldrew too.
Before I go down the line of a second hand pump, are there any last tips/ideas I could try? Could it be something elemental that has been put back wrong. A strip down of the pump will cost a fortune, so second hand pump seems only way forward.

you could probably get your own pump resealed and calibrated for £100- £150.

I think you should contact the Citizen's Advice Bureau cos' I think the garage owner may still be liable - he'll also have plenty of money to pay for it if he's sold the place.

Quite right John, and/or your local Trading Standards. Do not let him walk away - sends the wrong signal to anyone else inclined to behave similarly.

There was an injector/pump for sale on ebay recently though it may have gone. If not, Bongos are being broken all the time.

Honestly though, what a bunch of t*ssers.

You could be looking at £250 for a complete pump re-build Mark...

It's a pity the boss of the garage didn't inform you that the garage was due to close BEFORE he buggered up your fuel pump...

Probably buggered up one pump too many and it all caught up with him

You're probably right mike....Bloody sealant on a rubber "O" ring? (where's a shaking my head dissapointedly emoticon?)

The idea of useing an o ring is so you don`t have to use sealant.

....just make sure that it is not AIR starvation.......mine had the air inlet blocked and would not go over 3000 revs..........worth checking before spending......Alan

the pipe from the turbo is not off is it?
the small one that goes to the pump.

Hi Gwyddfor, i experienced a similar problem after having work done on my fuel pump ,it turned out it was only dirt collected in the tiny banjo filter. It is very easy to check this ,you would be able to do it yourself and if it does turn out to be would save you a lot of heartache and money . It's got to be worth checking? Should you need any help in locating the banjo filter there should be a diagram on here somewhere or feel free to PM me
