Finally got back home at about 8.00pm

Traffic at a standstill M6 north of Lancaster with heavy rain making driving impossible. Huddled in Burton services for 2 hours watching the car park flooding.

Local roads blocked and flooded with diversions in place.

We must be ruddy loonies to undertake that sort of journey to meet even more lunatics....but it was worth it

Friday night was a bit traumatic when the new Costco marquee decided it was lonely and tried to mate with my bongo

Half an hour in torrential freezing rain along with Snowkiter and we managed to stop any further damage. Big thanks to everyone who contributed to Waynes whipround..I've got more than enough to buy a replacement light cluster and I'll donate the balance to the marquee fund.

Thanks to Jetskier for getting the meet off the ground and to all those of you who helped keep the second (ex mine now belongs to the NW area) marquee ON the ground. Thought I'd got rid of it paid done and dusted and then I'm told to take the muddy mess back home ready for Cartmel in March

Looking forward to next year...but I'm not stopping in a wood on top of a hill in a monsoon and hurricane again

Blimey - what we weekend you guys n gals seem to have had. I'm blown away (bit like you nearly were really

). You're all totally and utterly bonkers......which is good

Got to admit, I seriously doubt if I could have managed a fancy dress outfit like wot you all did. What strange magic is it that makes Bongo folk able to out-fancydress everyone else even when they are stuck in a muddy field in hurricane winds and driving rain. People in full heavy weather gear have had to be airlifted from Snowdon in better weather than that.

Oh and thanks for the wing mirrors Wayne (and NeilT for dropping them round this evening - sorry I missed you). I shall wear them on Mango with pride, knowing they not only came from a good pedigree, but were actually a silent witness to the Buxton expedition.

Mango has been busy this weekend helping out at our eldest's 18th. She ferried one girl home, complete with a bucket and my wife as nurse (now they are 18 I can't ban them from alcohol consumption

) then returned and we had 9 in her as we ferried people home. So the police couldn't eye up the illegal seating in the back, we simply put the electric blinds down and hid it all from view. Handy things these Bongos

Hope you manage to get the poor old marquee fixed DBO (bad luck that after all your hard work getting it) and that woodenwheel gets his Bongo sorted after whatever happened (and no doubt Harry is eyeing up the rear light cluster currently being advertised on ebay and that wasn't shifting when I last looked).

Ive never seen a bloke so happy to receive a toy yellow bunny.

Or it might have been the bottle of whisky you was slowly sipping as you walked (staggered) (slip slided) around the campsite.

Had a great first Bongo meet - no longer Bongo virgins .

Got some great memories, met some great people and had a great time thanks to everyone there. Got an extra memory at the moment as the inside of the van is dirtier than the outside due to a muddy dog and a wet muddy awning .

Still the rain on the M60 washed the mud off and the wind tried to blow us of the motorway

it was like trying to drive a kite. Sorry to hear about your little mishap Woodenwheel - did it involve that big nasty tree? Anyway thanks once again for making us feel so welcome and as Arnie would say "I`ll be back"

P.s Mobilecat don`t forget your handbrake

Sorry i missed out on the fancy dress...I was SOOOO looking forward to donning my bestest frilly frock N' all!

I was in the spirit of buxton at least,as i mopped up god knows how many gallons of flood water from my kitchen,at exactly the same time as i should have been departing for my day visit

At least all my living room furniture was stored in the kitchen (living room cleared for new 3 piece suite delivery)so that's leccy stuff drying on the radiator for the rest of the week

What about those fancy dress pics eh?

Dbo looked so very comfortable in women's clobber!

And what can i say about fluffy harry?...

You really are all a bit loopy!

Sorry to hear of the weather related "mishaps"...At least it didn't seem to affect the spirit of the bash

sooo glad you all managed to survive I was thinking of you whilst the wind was yet again wrecking my garden it looks like you still managed to have fun anyway (envy envy envy envy)

What happened to wooden wheels bongo ?

who was wearing the gnome mask ? i thought keith had sneaked down there when i saw that.

did you deliberately pitch the marquee around a tree because some-one was using all the poles.?

seriously though if you need some more dosh to fix it let us know

That's not as bad as I thought it might have been, then - I envisaged he'd tried going too fast to clear a boggy patch and slid sideways into a tree at a rate of knots

I might add that I still don't envy the situation, just that I feared it was worse than it seems to be

Mad as cheesecake the lot of you!!

Looks like you all had a fab time despite the weather and mishaps, your all braver than me, I wouldnt have survived one night feeling like this (I think Jackie's flu made it to Hyde). Feel like im over the worst now though, just the hacking cough to contend with!!

One thing that stands out the most in all of these meets in the good spirit and carmadarie (is that spelt right?) of all who attend, im proud to be in the North West section.

Good time had by all, will look forward to Cartmel x
