Back safe from Buxton

As we ended up having to come home before the fun had finished I thought I would start the debriefing post.

For anyone that didn't come to Buxton - you missed a great but extremely cold, wet, windy (tornado style, marqee crashing into Harrys bongo type winds) weekend. Even for the tough northeners it was a bit of a scary one and I'm afraid a little much for my 4 year old who wasn't exactly at his best this weekend. I am missing everyone already and really wished we could have stayed tonight too. He can stay at home next time:). At least my roof boards worked well.

It was lovely to see familiar faces and meet some new ones.

Big thanks to Jetskier for organising the event and I hope your little ones are feeling better soon.

A huge thanks to Bongoinmad for major awning assistance (without her it would probably still be in the heap on the ground but I now have a clue where to start. Also thanks for the trousers which Hannah is going to use and pass back to Judah when he grows a bit.

Massive thank you to Trish for the awning condom.

Special thanks to Dave up north for the extrta pegs which dissappearred into I dont know where yet when we put away too quickly but we will find them and you will get them back.

Thanks to Harry for trying his best to get Mark drunk on Whisky even if I was too ill to drive so he ciouldn't drink the stuff.

Thanks to Trish and Harry for making use of the ornage tracks. I am very pleased I out them in the bongo as a last minute idea. Hopefuly the second one turns/turned up in the Sunday morning light.

Big thanks to AndandDen for the welcome and the torch use before we left.

Super thanks to Muzorewa and son for heloping with the dissambly process.

Thank you to however noticed our handbrake was off when the roof wouldn't come down- - sorry I didn't see who it was but I was ready to die at that point with migraine.

Thanks to Jetskier for the fancy dress pressie - some of which kept little one busy on the way home:)

OK enough of the thank yous. Hope you all have/had safe journeys home and enjoy/ed tonight if you were staying over.

WOW cat, That sounded like great fun, kiddies a bit scared though,
Poor mark you have put him of camping for good,
Tell him it get's much better in summer, Just flood's to deal with

Little one wasn't really scared. The problem is that he doesn't feel the cold like other children but when he is cold (or hot) it affects his behaviour. He doesn't even realise when he is cold or hot which can be awkward. He loved sleeping in the bongo and slept through all the noise (and it was noisy as we woke up a few times). Unfortunately there were no kids his age to play with and nothing much for him to do because he was in such an awful mood.

Mark wasn't well yesterday and I woke with a headache which progressed to a migraine so by this afternoon I was starting to worry that little one was going to be really ill if we didn't get him home. It was just bad luck. We didn't get a chance to say goodbye to most people either.

I didn't need to do much to put Mark off camping to be fair. I have to say- I found putting up my frame tent easier than an awning. I will have to work on that. I am not sure I am an awning convert - oh I wish I could afford a comversion.

Hi all.
Dave up north reporting from sunny Heysham.
We came home last night too. Got home at midnight, after a very scary trip home.
We were very slow on the M60 and M61.
Multiple car crashes due to snow settling on the fast lane.

Well. Buxton... What can I say. Tough northerners in vests... No
Tough northerners in hard hats... Yes.
I was really scared on Friday night. Goddaughter in the roof. We are parked under trees and its hurricane Harry out there.

We got Nic out of the roof and lowered it at 1 in the morning, then slept till ten.

What can I say about the Buxton crew? Amazing people.

You would have thought it was summer, spirits Saturday night were SO high.

The fancy dress was amazing. Just wait till you see the photo's.

Jetskier was a Star.

Mike and Jo, dreamy. Thank you so much for letting me use your new conversion and george forman for me dinner. Lovely conversion Mike. "I want that one"

It was an awsome weekend on so many levels.

Just keep watching for updates as people get home. Unbelievable resolve.

Now where did I put my vax machine. My Bongo needs extreme clean . com.

p.s. I learned a lesson too. Never push a Bongo through mud whilst wearin cream pants

Thanks to JetSkier for organising, I think the field will take a few months to recover from all that rain!

We had to make a move earlier than planned, little people were very cold

I hope the site doesn't resemble a UN food-drop zone this morning!

Just heard from Pete n Gillian. Its raining hard there this morning.
Hope everyone gets out and home ok. It will be like Glastonbury, without the hippies. Although Waycar looked like one last night. lol

Just to keep within the Buxton spirit, I am sat on the floor in my lounge eating a bacon butty.

well shit weather, slept in Jackies tent friday night in the gale force winds and the rain

, blew the tent down snapping some of the fibreglass poles in the process, so about half 2 in the morning, me and Amanda was putting the tent back up, whilst the wind was using it for a kite

.

so got it up and pegged backed down with part of a yorkshire stone wall, that was nearby

, anyway at the same time haryy van was all snugg and warm with the marquee wrapped around it

, smashing his rear lense in the process, so we all had a wip round and chipped in for a new light for it

Well saturday was a bit more pleasant despite the freezing wind, as the day went on it seemed to warm up a bit, then the evening was amazing, never laughed as much in a very long time

, the fancy dress was brilliant, some awesome costumes. DBO was wearing his best outfit that he had in his wardrobe

and he looked good, in a transvestite kind of way.
