peg leg pete pippin has managed to link to my photo. If you go to next in photo bucket youl get a wider view showing where the other end of the pipe connects.

as I said before when this pipe was recnnected the difference in performance was amazing.

[wish I could upload my own photos!]

That pipe goes to the fuel pump to allow the pump to inject more fuel into the engine when the turbo spins up. If not connected the engine will be starved of fuel.

Well there is a pipe connected, but not sure what it connects to  I have circled a pipe that has been blocked off, I notice on your engine petebee the pipe is left unblocked, what purpose does it serve and should I unblock it :?: thanks in advance

peg leg pete look at dandywarhols previous comments looks like its important to have the pipe cnnected for proper fuel delivery.

if you view my photo giving the wider view youl get an idea where the other end conects.

one end is deliberately disconnected for reference

Take no notice of last post, me like a dipstick went out without my bins on could not see a pipe, wife went out to look and pipe was there tucked away behind other pipes, connected it, just been out to give it a blast, what a flying machine. My thanks to all you great folk who have helped. Just wondered why Adrian didn't spot it!

If you look at the photo I posted, the pipe is connected and runs away under the front of the engine, are you saying it should connect to the pipe I have circled :?: If so I will have to look underneath the engine to locate where it is connected to  Our bongo is slow uphills but fine on level ground puzzling :?

peg leg pete looks like the pipe you see running away under the engine needs connecting up to where the other end is blanked off with the self tapping screw. If thats the case you should also get increased performance.

thanks for uploading picture tip worked perfectlly.

Hi Pete, I had a pipe that wasn't connected to anything. I have now connected to where you have circled and its running miles better. Will take some photo's with and without it connected and try and upload them tomoz so you can see. Mine in now connected exactly the same as petebee's and i instantly saw an inprovement.

Thanks petebee  once you have uploaded photos a time or 2 you wonder why it was so hard to do first time  I will have to locate where the pipe connects to under the engine, I will have to then give it a try , will post tomorrow on how I get on thanks for advice and photos, have wondered for a while why pipe was blocked, mystery solved

Platty cheers, problem is where the other end is connected under the engine, will have to see if I can find it tomorrow, will give it a try and connect it to its correct location. I reckon when the replacement engine was fit, they got the piping mixed up a little

Well the rain abated for a while this afternoon, dashed out and checked the pipe, it was fit onto a pipe that runs at the very front of the engine above the alternator belts, tried to get a photo, but not acessable  I removed the pipe and popped it on to the correct pipe  I went for a spin  Goes like the clappers up hills now, am I chuffed \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ So I now have a pipe that may or may not need blocking :?: Before I removed it from the wrong position, I ran the engine and I felt the end of the pipe it was sucking in air  So not sure what it's purpose is-- any ideas please, thanks again for all advice, Bongo now climbs the big hills around here with ease

These vacuum pipes are used for increasing the engine revs when the aircon is running, during cold start and the EGR circuit - take your choice Pete
