I remember that tartan paint first came out when I was an eighteen year old apprentice learning how to design, manufacture and build diesel engines. For the engines exported north of the border it made the painting of the engine canopies so much easier, even better when the 4" tartan brush came out for painting large areas.
I seem to remember a little later there was a tartan spray gun but there was a problem if the nozzle was not properly cleaned after each job, the tartans used to get mixed up and it was hell of a job to rectify.
The good old days.
