Auto Gearbox Problem

Hi

I wonder if anyone can advise me?

I've got a 98 2.5 diesel auto that has been driving absolutely fine until I came to reverse it last night and nothing happened.

The shift went in to R, the annoying beeping kicked in but the van stayed still, no struggle, no nothing.

I gingerly drove it to ...

Re: Dying leisure battery?

Thanks Geoff, I think that's probably all the encouragement I need to get a new one.

Dying leisure battery?

Hi, I wonder if any of you good people can advise me please?

I've had my leisure battery for over five years, the radio, interior lights and blind etc are patched into it and the van is used daily. So, when it failed to power my new compressor type fridge for more than a couple of hours, I assumed ...

Re: Alpro Loopo awning

Hi, I use a Figure of 8 Awning Strip. This is essentially a narrow length of fabric one side of which slides in to a Figure of 8 channel(s) attached to the van and the other sides into another Figure of 8 Channel(s) that runs the length of your awning. That way, whenever you drive off, you just ...

Re: Car Bras for Bongo.... too much like a VW?

I had a Van X Bra on for about 3, maybe 4 years and when I decided to take it off this spring, the bonnet was fine - just needed a wash and polish. In fact, after washing the Bongo yesterday and noticing some fresh stone chips I was in half a mind to put it on again.

On the question asked i.e. does ...

Re: Makeshift Solar

Thanks for the information.

Is it just a question of pointing the solar panel at the sun and connecting it to your leisure battery with crocodile clips or would I connect to the starting battery and let the split relay do whatever it does?

Makeshift Solar

I've been dreaming about one of Dodgey's wonderful solar kits for a while now but having paid out for a new cylinder head, steering rack and wheel arch repair in the last couple of months, it's not going to happen.

I'm wondering therefore about the cheaper alternatives available. I've seen brief ...

Re: Got solar - now need a compressor fridge. Recommendation

Well, Just to close the loop, Adrian fitted a new socket for me with beefier wire and when I collected it off him on Friday afternoon the fridge was showing -13c!

I've left it running ever since, albeit at +2c, and it's still going so all is well.

The coolbox the new fridge replaces would drain my ...

Re: Got solar - now need a compressor fridge. Recommendation

Thanks to all for your replies and advice. I've just tried the fridge in my wife's car and it works a treat so I think this backs up what I've been told.

I can feel a trip to see Adrian at Japan Direct coming on!

Thanks again, kind of you to take the time to help.

Re: Got solar - now need a compressor fridge. Recommendation

Hi, after reading this thread I took the plunge and ordered one of the ezetil ezc35's.

I've not had much of a play with it yet, but it appears to be struggling to get down to 4°c and I'm wondering if the Bongo wiring might be too weedy to deliver the power it needs? It's plugged in to the socket in ...

Thanks again everyone for your ever helpful advice. I've just re read the booking slip and the difference between the two is 1 Euro a day, so 10amp it'll be!

EHU - 6AMP or 10AMP

Hi

I'm looking at booking at a campsite in France and have the option of either 6 amp or 10 amp hook up.

Excuse my ignorance, but am I right in assuming that the only difference is the number of things you could have running off the supply at any one time or should I definitely choose one over the ...
