Re: starting problems - battery? glow plugs? both..?

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
Just to clarify, the 11-12 volts is when the engine is off - once the engine is running then it ups to 13-14v.

So, if I'm understanding right, old glow plugs require more power from the battery? If so then it's off to the garage for new plugs

starting problems - battery? glow plugs? both..?

Hi,
My bongo's suddenly started having difficulty starting in the morning. it's a 1995 4wd 2.5 turbodiesel.
My first assumption was that it's the battery - if I charge it overnight, the bongo starts first time, but it's really juddery for about 30 seconds. After a day or 2 of short journeys I get ...

Re: Adding new internal tailgate lights - Tailgate wiring ti

thanks for the tips guys - didn't have curtain wire but found a reel of some garden wire in the shed and managed to feed that through. Taped my cable to the end and pulled back through - winner!

Thanks for the screwdriver tip too - got through the rubber thingy no problem :)

Can't really see them ...

Adding new internal tailgate lights - Tailgate wiring tips?

I've replaced my battered tailgate card with a nice new home-made one, and while I was at it I thought I'd add some lights to come on when the boot is open, to light up me food when I'm cooking with the gas stove at night.

The pic makes it look grubby for some reason but I'm quite pleased with it ...

north west body shop recommendations?

Hi,
After the recommendations of a couple of guys I tried to get my beloved Bongo in at Wheelquick to tackle the dreaded rear arch rust. Alas they couldn't take it as their Body shop guy is off on holidays and having children etc. I took it to non-bongo specialist in Middlewich who reckons it needs ...

Hold button not working

Hi guys - hoping one of you could help me [-o< [-o<

I added the plasma strip to my gear selector as well as adding a voltage dial with a switch between my Leisure battery and main starter battery. It all looks very nice but now my hold button doesn't work - the hold light doesn't come on and the ...

Re: Bongo Ariel

If you fancy something a bit different, there was a thread on the pimp my bongo forum about this:

Basically, my aerial (think that's how you spell it!) got chewed up by my AFT. At the advice of Barrington and ...

I replaced mine with a halfords 10 quid jobbie, which I actually think looks better than the original. However, I had to spend another tenner getting the tap tool ...

Took the glovebox off to take a better look

Does any of that look non-standard?

Up close, the bing noise seems to come from the rightish, possibly near the back of the CD player. It's really difficult to work out where exactly though ...

There's a mystery switch in my Bongo!

Hello!
Hopefully one of you nice people might be able to help me out. Just below and to the left of the steering wheel there is a mysterious switch. When the power is off, it does nothing. When the power is on, a set of soft chiming beeps comes from somewhere behind the glove compartment, starting ...

Re: New starter battery advice

thanks guys. I tried a bunch of local places but nowhere had a compatible battery in anything higher than 60AH. Not sure where I read it but I'm sure I saw somewhere that I needed a starter battery with higher AH than my leisure battery. My leisure battery is rated as 80AH so I was after a 95 AH one ...

New starter battery advice

Hello!
I've not had my bongo for very long and have just had the starter battery fail on me. It's a pretty old looking Japanes battery and i'm having trouble working out what to replace it with.
After scouring the fact sheets I've found that I probably want a 95 a/h "068" battery, but these all ...
