Re: Front Passenger Swivel Seat
Hi Larus,
Highly recommend the New Dawn seat.
If you can't get it fitted, they operate a mail-order service, send in your seat base and they mod it and return it to you.
It's very simple to remove the seat and refit after the mod.
I added this mod to my van and it's probably the best change I've ...

Hi Chris,
Epic Post.
Thanks for taking the time to document this work.
Makes for interesting reading and shows that with ingenuity and effort we can keep our Bongo's on the road.
Well done so far, looking forward to the next update.

Re: Storing Meals for a Bongo Trip
I'd definitely agree on the Ridge Monkey Pans.
A game changer in respect to reducing the number of pans and the small footprint is a real benefit in a small van like the Bongo.
Meal wise a hob and fridge gives us a lot of flexibility, but we still keep self heating bags and camping meals for back ...

Re: Fridge Not Working
Hi,
Couple of things you can check:
1. Do you have the right fuse fitted, fuses are amp rated, if you have a lower rated fuse it may blow when the compressor kicks in?
2. Not sure when the fuse is blowing, but if you have exposed wires then movement may be causing a short, power 12v+ to ground ...

Re: Mot fail
Hi and Welcome.
MOT failures are a fact of life, a three year old car could fail on the lights, brakes, CV Boot fault or the tyre issue you have.
Your main issue is something that every Bongo or vintage car/Camper owner has to constantly deal with, corrosion.
Please keep the faith, don't give up ...

White and Grey Bongo spotted
Hi All,
Spotted an identical White and Grey Bongo at Town Farm Bedfordshire this weekend - Didn't manage to say hello as I was busy doing camping stuff.
Looked very tidy and being identical outside to mine they must have great taste in Bongo exteriors
.
If I see it again I'll try and say Hi..

Re: Climate Control - fix.
Hi Bongolian,
No it's the big one that sits in under the bonnet.
It's expertly placed to fill with water and rust up, I think that may have been what damaged some of the other electrical elements of the solution.
While replacing this I took the advice to open up the drain hole to aid it purging ...

Climate Control - fix.
I Managed to get my climate control fans to finally work this weekend.
The system was totally shot, I replaced the Fan as it was totally rusted out, one relay, a useless earth connection and the transistor that sits inside the little module on top of the intakes.
I can't imagine how much this ...

Re: Replacing Roof Tent
Hi All,
Quick update:
New tent fitted and while the opportunity was there gas struts replaced and runners cleaned and re-lubed.
Thanks to everyone who provided solid advice, I now have a roof tent that doesn't look like a string vest.
Looking forward to getting about in the Bongo as soon as the ...

Re: Montague/registered camper with conversion as a daily?
Hi and welcome
Recently bought a Bongo and insured through A Plan - now known as Howdens.
The on boarding was very good and I have both social and commuting on my policy.
They have a dedicated camper van team who should be able to offer you something,
Given them a try and see how you get on ...

Hi Geoff,
Massive thank you for the additional info
I hear you ref the JIS bits and I've just ordered a full set to make sure that I don't destroy the screws.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Rich.

Re: Replacing Roof Tent
Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.
The tent is fixed firmly to both the upper and lower - the canvas has an 8 inch rip in it where the normal operation of the pop top put it under tension and caused it to tear.
The canvas looks like original and as far as I can see in pretty ...
