Hi
You will need to remove the cam belts plastic covers.
I found you had to remove the distributor cover as well. But don’t worry it’s just a couple of bolts and goes back on easily with no adjustment needed to the distributor.
The dip stick tube will pull out once removed the bolt.
Then it’s a ...

Re: V6 Petrol Noise When Warm
Update on my noise.
I have now changed the water pump.
Also had a number of people look at it and all say it’s not the belt system.
I have driven it over 3000 miles and the engine/transmission runs fine.
Occasionally when I start the vehicle from cold I can hear the noise but it disappears before I ...

Re: V6 Petrol Noise When Warm
I removed the air con belt - noise was still there
I then removed the main auxillary belt and the noise went.
The tensioner pulley bearing was replaced a little while ago and seemed perfectly ok.
Alternator & power steering pulleys seem ok.
Whilst the engine was still hot i spun the water pump and ...

V6 Petrol Noise When Warm
Hi all
as per subject I have a 99 V6 petrol with 100km.
Recently changed auxiliary belts and replaced one of the tensioner bearings as it felt rather dry.
Timing belt was changed a year before I purchased it. Im not sure if the timing belt pulleys were changed.
Engine runs really nice.

V6 2.5 petrol auxiliary belt tensioner
Hi
Can anyone tell me if the main auxiliary belt tensioner 17mm bolt is left or right hand thread?
It won’t move either direction and I don’t want to break the alloy housing.
How easy is it to remove the whole unit?
The AC one was left thread but it also pivots the different direction so I don’t ...

V6 Petrol unusual noise
Hi
Now I have sorted my gearbox issues and serviced all the engine I am slowly working through some other faults.
One is a strange noise that only occurs when accelerating.
It doesn't do it all the time and I cant make it do it whilst parked.
It sounds like a cat meowing.
As soon as you take your ...

Re: Coolant Alarm won’t stop
If I disconnect the battery the alarm will go off continuously when I reconnect it.
If I wait until the engine has warmed up properly and then plug in the fuse the alarm works fine.
Tried placing a wire from one screw to the other - makes no difference.

Re: P0715 Transmission Error - Hold light
I have hopefully now resolved the issue.
I purchased a single TCC solenoid from Mazdabongo.com. They were the only ones who could supply it.
This was fitted, filter cleaned, new sump gasket and atf fluid.
The front hoses were also blown out to remove as much old fluid as possible.
Unfortunately the ...

Re: P0715 Transmission Error - Hold light
I removed the solenoids and they were all clean enough.
Shift solenoids measured 3.7 ohms
TCC Lock solenoid measured 57 ohms.
This seems extremely high.
I tried 9v across terminals and no movement. Can i try 12v? i read somewhere this can damage them.
is there anyway i can test it?
Can i get just ...

Re: P0715 Transmission Error - Hold light
After about 40 miles of testing the light starting flashing when I was on the motorway doing about 50mph.
Sure enough when I started slowing down I could feel it was stuck in 3rd. And eventually it stalled at the roundabout.
It started straight away and drove home without a problem or flashing light ...

Re: Coolant Alarm won’t stop
not sure what make of alarm it is.
It has 2 screws.
been for a drive today. When i got home i thought i would maybe test the wires near the alarm itself.
Plugged in back into the fuse and its all working ok now.
Its not going off unless i press the test button.
Will see how it goes

Coolant Alarm won’t stop
Possibly covered before so apologies.
Recently purchased Bongo.
Removed idle control valve to clean it and in doing so lost about 1/2 pint of coolant.
I topped this up and since then the alarm won’t stop going off.
Coolant level is about 2cm and not losing any coolant.

P0715 Transmission Error - Hold light
Hi
I have just bought my Bongo and on the way home experienced the flashing Hold light as well as other issues.
You kind of expect to have some problems on a 23 year old vehicle that hasn't been bought from a reputable dealer.
Mine was a private purchase and i didn't experience this issue when i ...

Re: Engine stalls when warm
I removed the gearbox speed sender units today.
One was smothered in black gunge.
Checked the voltage of the wires and they were all good.
I was unable to find out how to check the senders themselves so just cleaned them and put them back in.
The Bongo now runs a lot better and i took it for a long ...
