Re: Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

For the sake of completeness here is the new hose compared to old pipe and it fitted. For anyone in a similar position locally I got the hose made up by Gwent Hydraulic hoses in Newport. £20 + vat. Bargain if you ask me! :D

Re: Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

Thanks for the offer northern bogolow. I've spoken to a local place who have provisionally agreed to rebuild it out of flexi pipe for about £20. He did say though that the ss braided Teflon tubing they use is identical to that on braided brake lines and can withstand upto 260°c. So would cope with ...

Re: Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

Thanks for the suggestions both. I spoke with the guy that does my welding and he said it's too small and suggested a heating engineer to solder it. Spoke to gas engineer who said he couldn't but suggested hydraulic pipe place near me. Spoke with them and they said they don't touch automotive parts ...

Re: Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

Thanks again, I have plenty of white spirit so will give that a go. I assume in that case, there won't be much oil coming out of the pipe when I remove it? I filled the oil back up before I ran it to locate the leak as I was afraid the engine wouldn't have sufficient oil and didn't want to damage it ...

Re: Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

Thanks teenmal! Exactly what I was looking for!

Sounds straight forward enough. I'll do an oil and filter change and change the washers while the oil is out. :D

Any tips on what to use to remove the leaked oil? the leak is in close proximity to the front prop shaft, which has kindly spun it all ...

Hopefully this link works. In the pictures it's the brass coloured pipe just behind the turbo inlet. And 2nd pic you can just about see a dirty black bolt where it comes from top of turbo.

The leak is coming from the bottom where it ...

Re: Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

It's a 1997 n reg. 2.5td 4wd aft. I'll post a vid on YouTube when I get home from work if that will make identifying the pipe easier? Thanks

Oil leak from pipe connected to top of turbo?

Hi all, spent a lot of time sorting the bongo recently ready to sell her and noticed an oil leak a few days ago, it has gotten progressively worse over the last week until eventually the oil light came on. I have found the source of the leak and it's coming from the metal pipe that goes from top of ...

Re: Air Con Tensioner pulley

No resistance when turning by hand and I don't know if there is a belt adjuster pulley? Just 3 pulleys, top of engine 2 belts bottom of engine 3 belts (Inc air con belt ) and then alternator pulley.... I've loosened it and it has stopped squealing and seems less hot.

Would it make a difference what ...

Re: Air Con Tensioner pulley

And now I've noticed the pulley on the alternator is red hot to touch after a short time running. Could this be because the belts are too tight or loose?

Re: Air Con Tensioner pulley

I have a new issue.... the aux belts are squealing really loud when tensioned to 10-15mm play, when slackened off they are silent? I put new heavy duties ones on as I thought maybe the other ones I bought were cheap ones. But still squealing!! I have fitted 13x1100 gates v belt extra service. Any ...

Re: Air Con Tensioner pulley

Thanks both. Pulley is sorted :D

Yes it's a 2.5 diesel.

I've reconnected the 2nd battery as with it off the glow plug light was flashing.. no issue now it's back on and it is receiving a charge so I'll see how we go.

Air Con Tensioner pulley

Hi all, just fitted new belts, reconditioned alternator and a new battery and I have 2 questions if somebody would be so kind as to offer an answer...

Firstly my Bongo has 2 starter batteries (Northern Japan version) with a split relay from main to the second one. I have only replaced the main ...
