I had exactly the same thing happen to me. When I first got my bongo I noticed the pipe was broken at the solenoid end so I tried to cut the end off so I could push it back on the solenoid but it just shattered so I tried to pull it off the green valve but it came away from the air intake ...

Thanks for the tip on how to pressure test the cooling system I will give that a go. Would you happen to know if the header tank cap is bongo specific or if you can get one from motor accessories stores?

Hi all
Can anyone advise---
I seem to be loosing coolant but I don't seem to have any leaks?
I am dong approx 80 mile per day in 2 40 mile trips to work and back at around 70mph
There is no overheating and the temp gauge doesn't move over 11 o'clock and there is no running or starting problems or ...

just an update on the loss of power and black smoke thing.... :?:
have just found out that power is normal until the engine is at full temp then it looses power when pulling away with lots of black smoke so tried pulling off the new rubber hose that i put on the solenoid that connects to the air ...

the only pipe i replaced was the one to the most left solenoid above the glow plugs looking from the drivers side. I will check the egr valve and try disconnecting the vac tube from it but could you assist me in letting me know where the egr is on this particular engine as i'm a newbie to the ...

Thanks for the reply.
When I replaced the tube it was with thick walled vac tubing but unfortunately the small one way valve broke as the original tube was so hard. I mistakenly thought the valve was a filter so missed it out.
Strangely enough the bongo seemed to run fine with the tube off before ...
