Fumble in the Dark!

Post by rontrousers » Wed Feb 21, 2007 10:01 pm

The bulb lighting up my heater controls has blown (I assume). :-({|= Before I attack the console with an array of blunt instruments and cause untold mayhem, scratches and cracks, could anyone advise me on the best method to remove or get behind the controls.

The controls are on a '95 with just A/C.

yes please, me too.
If the bulbs are the same throughout the dash they are available from Maplin item number BT43W. Have a look at the Maplin website for a picture and price.

I think I've done mine :? , you can use a radio removal tool/bent coat hangers to pull the AC unit out. The wires go into the four small holes in the AC panel. From memory there's not a lot of slack on the cables so take care.

I was struggling to replace all ther lamps in mine due to there not being a lot of give, and ended up having to disconnect the three rigid heater control wires at the opposite ends. One in the drivers footwell, one in passenger footwell, and the other in the engine bay on the air intake scoop used to change betwenn recycled/fresh air. The clips are easy enough to remove and will make it a whole lot easier
