I don't know if mine was a default one, but you may need to insert some rods into the holes on the front. This releases clips inside. You can make your own with a wire coat hanger.
Cut 4, 5inch lengths from the coat hanger and bend half an inch at the end.
Insert the into the 4 holes at the same time and pull the stereo. If you push the rods in too far you won't be able to get it out, so it takes a bit of messing about with.

Wire coathanger works for many radios (DIN fitting):

I had to remove the glovebox (easy it just pulls out with a bit of squeezing) Then get your little pinkies in behind the radio and you may find a screw/bolt sticks out from the back of the radio and through a metal mounting frame. I couldn't get at it well enough with my fingers so I leavered it out with a large screwdriver, no damage co's it is all held together with a rubber grommet. Have a feel round and see.

Mine needed 2 bits of flat metal to push down each side of the radio/cassette. This pushed the springy bits of the casing in and allowed it to slide out.

Me and a couple of the boys could come round and we would have it out before you could unlock the door

While there we could also remove them ugly 19" alloys, and leave you on a lovely set of bricks, only 2 previous owners

Get one like this:

http://tinyurl.com/2qmtbe

£25, and it gets its power from the USB, no messing about with a 12v power supply for the hard disk.

Bought one recently to backup critical data on the old laptop.

Same vendor has bigger ones too 100gig £45

Word of warning.
Not all stereos work with USB harddrives. Some are even fussy over the type of USB memory stick. I'd wait until you have the stereo and check what it accepts.

Stereo seems a great price NeilT - look forward to hearing your review of it once fitted. On the 40Gb USB disk thing, how are all the playlists and stuff managed if you just stuff a large disk with loads on MP3 into the USB :?

I have a USB powered 4 gig hard drive, had a freind that was bulding them long before they came on e-bay ;)
As mentioned here, till I have the unit installed it is going to be hard to say how it will work, but most MP3 "players" will look for the folders where you you then have the tracks.
If the hard dive does not work, the the SD card should, have ordered 2 2gig cards, each one will hold around 3 tubs.... Oh, I do like my golden wonder potted snacks :)

Hi Neil
That's the first time I've seen that make since I bought one of their DVD recorders with a 250Gb hard drive. It has performed well so I think you will be happy with it.
