Tail gate wiring

Post by Biddy » Mon Feb 05, 2007 12:48 pm

Hi, can anyone advise us please ? At first our rear windscreen wiper stopped working, tested the motor (well him - indoors said he had ! don't ask me.. ) now the light does not work but the bulbs OK. Himself, David, has asked me to ask if any of you know if there is an electric juntion for the wiring anywhere as he thinks it maybe a break. I said why not just rewire anew from the dash as the wires are only little thin ones, not like rewiring the house. Apparently that is not a sensible suggestion...
Thank You for your time

Just in case anyone's interested.... today on this nice sunny afternoon David decided to "have a go" at fixing the wiring in the tailgate for the rear wiper / demister / rear interior light (boot light).

What he did waz... removed the grommet from the top of the right hand side of the door housing, moved out of the way, pulled out as much cable as he could, including the connectors, he found 6 broken wires that he then rejoined using spare wire and chocolate boxes. A bit fiddly, but managed and now Hey Presto ! all working again now. Having got the info off this forum as to what fuses were involved he'd checked them and knew it had to be the wiring as they were intact.

So thanks PEEPS you did it again... :D :D :D :D :D

NEXT WEEK HE WILL BE MOSTLY TRYING TO FIT A TALKING CAR ALARM just aswell its not adaptive it will probably hear a few colourful words.... its sposed to be fitted to a COIL !!!!! but starter motor will have to do .....

i did do a fact sheet in the members section covering the colours and where they all go withing the tailgate as a lot of people have problems with chaffing wires in the grommet. also the wires in the front doors arnt too clever.

Just goes to show really I think the wiring was not protected enough in the making of the bongo, the door loom wears through, now the tailgate wears through, both heavy wear areas, lukily they are repairable although somewhat awkward. Didn't know about the fact sheet, brill idea and such a help, hats off to you. Happy motoring.

dreamwarrioruk THANK YOU he did look at your fact sheet that's what gave him the confidence to try, just wanted to give a general thanks peeps as I could not remember its author and everyone's always so good at giving help and advice.

I must admit that when I first posted this thread I was cheating and was looking for someone to tell me what to do rather than look it up myself, I blame my 4 brothers always looking after little sis ....
