Clunk when starting - especially if wheels not straight ?

Post by Griffin » Tue Jan 30, 2007 11:10 am

Hi All, when I set off in my Bong there is a 'clunk' noise, if the wheels are anything but dead straight it's much worse and it make you think twice about starting off quickly but seems OK once moving.

I've done a search but so far have come up with only drop links ?

Now this could be the problem but as I don't know what they are then I'm a bit lost.

Can anyone help ? In a nutshell:

1) Is the noise likely to be droplinks
2) If not what do you reckon ?

Many thanks,

If you have 4WD it's most likely to be worn driveshaft constant velocity joints. They make a noise just off straight ahead position cos the bearing balls inside travel across a worn track in the joint causing the knock.
Best to get it fixed soon - they can disintegrate!
