Stereo's, Tvs, Games concoles and fitting!!!!

Post by kitebeach » Tue Jan 23, 2007 3:32 pm

Bought a bongo and loving it and after being "GIVEN!!! £600 of speakers!!" 8) it set me fast on pathway of pimping the van. Id thought id start this link as looked though others for help but couldn't find any thing to help me fit rear speakers so if anyone can tell me how to remove right had side pannels to get to speaker in rear id be delightet (not side door side which ive done easily) im having problems removing internal side panel at rear as connected to the middle right hand side panel with air conditioning. Ive not removed seats as not worked that out either. SO

Info needed on how to remove sliding seats from rear of van and how to seperate rear internal right hand side panel with speaker slot from middle right hand side pannel with air con controls.

Things i have leant work well.

1.) 15inch moniters that fold down from roof can fit on underside of trap door leading into roof. When not in use you can fold door up to expose roof light and then close camper roof down on tv to hide it from thieves. I went for a 15 inch moniter i bought from hong kong from ebay for £99 but think you could get away with 17inch just make sure its slim enough for roof to come down. i riveted tv in so any thieves would have a real hard time trying to figure out how to remove it.

2.) bigbuycity.com on ebay does "AMAZING!!!!!" prices on alpine speakers atm they can take 7-10 days to ship but will save you fortune. 5. 1/4 speakers fit in the front door pannels "just" with some help as there are bolts and window parts just in the wrong place but you can do what i did and build door pannel out slightly (I went for the biggest 5 1/4 speakers i could fit so coursed myselt some grief  but sound is worth the fustration 8) i ended up screwing speakers onto door pannel rather than 2 days trying to make bracket to fit.
For the rear I fitted 6 1/2 inch round speakers without any sweat but 6" 9" although can fit in whole for door pannel snagged on the internat frame of car so gave up.

3.) I was given a base speaker its a vibe but by the time sound comes from back of van its not very loud and doesnt seem to be in sink with music so if buying a base speaker would try it out in van first as im not impressed. it might be ive not set it up right but it sounds like a kid is stitting in back of van thumping a big rubber drum out of sink with music and is very anoying.

4.) found "shark" car audio lead from maplin best and cheepest its very good and comes in 10m rolls for £19.95 ive used 20m!!! to wire 4 speakers up in total.

5.) havent found a decent place to put a amp. Thought i had at one point by putting it below air conditioning switches in back but then found it stopped middle seats from moving all the way forward to make bed. Any ideas? on either a good place to put one OR a amp slim enough not to catch on seats?

6.) There is allot of space wasted over glove box which could be used for something.

hope this helps anyone thinking of upgrading there speakers and if anyone can help with problem im having of getting to rear right hand side one please help as stuck

Anyone reading this and thinking next time they see van and think they will have a go nicking items listed above i have to warn ya.

1.) Ive made everything as hard as i could to get out easily
2.) it has a VERY good alarm
3.) id be very anoyed
4.) you dont want to see me anoyed
5.) last time someone got me anoyed someone broke into van. I was wiring up tv in back (he couldnt see me as tinted rear windows.) when finished with him people thought hes been in a car accident and had to be helped into the back of a police van by 2 police officers who couldnt help themselves laughing as i was told later the guy had been on wanted list for a long time for car crimes, as well as violence including assault, off the record i was told it was nice to see him being given good hiding.

Hope this helps

I hope I don't ever meet you in a dark alley late at night...........!

Why did you put your bass speaker in the sink?

I like the idea of the TV screen on the trapdoor - brilliant idea.

There is also a lot of room behing the nearside and offside rear panels, above the wheel arches.

Try removing the glove compartment tray. Theres a fair bit of space above it and your amp may fit there depending on size - also puts it out of sight. Squeeze the sides of the tray and it should drop down giving loads of access to a nice big space. The tray will just snap back into place when your done.

I also hope to avoid meeting you in a dark alley, late at night or otherwise....You seem to have "issues".

Hi kitebeach,Was that the incident when ya parents drove past and thought the scroat had been in a car accident? i think i remember that post... One query... how could you hear the sub if you haven,t fitted the amp yet? What had you wired it to? I have a fusion sub/amp package to install after ive upgraded the headunit,i intended on installing the amp under the middle seats, ive yet to work out how to keep all the wiring tidy and unseen, but i,m sure i,ll come up with something.

amp for woofer

Post by kitebeach » Sun Jan 28, 2007 1:19 pm

Sorry forgot to mention when i grabbed him he slammed my head in door 3 times before i could get out (which iritated me) and once i was out of car still clinging onto him he then threatened and tried biting me. So thought to self best thing to do was to knock guy out ASP and not give him chance. not normal violent but i didnt want to be bitten!!! i gave the guy every opertunity to stop fighting but he kept on coming till pub landlord and myself mannaged to pin him to a table outside. landlord holding wrist and me holding ancle and streching him out so he couldnt bite either of us. anyway enough of that lets talk bongo's

As for amp its a Vibe 10" (need much igger for space in bongo's) with its own powered amp i was given but wouldnt recommend one for a van as its not big enough to make much noise in a large van, went to a car stereo shop in preston the other day and talking about having a custom build bass boxed made for under back seats will post pictures when done. they where talking £80 for it if i have time might make it myself.

Also gave me realy good price on alpine w200ri double din head unit was rrp £899 but told they would sell it for £699 so saving up penies and watching ebay for second hand ones.

Amp i have to fit to power normal speakers is a audiobahn friend swapped me for a kite (I run a kite shop) hadn't heard of them before but its a serious nice bit of kit from america all in chrome they specialise in ICE and if you are looking for serious "PIMPED" speakers and amps for a show car look them up there stunning and sound amazing.

As for issues yes i have loads im fully aware of and the 2 days a week psychiatric treatment and meds are doing wonders (kidding!) thanks for concern. twitch twitch.

Hi kitebeach
The panels are quite easy to remove but you do need to pull the front panel off first. Undo screw holding tray in. If you have climate control then unclip wires to back, if aircon then undo it from the panel (2 gold coloured screws) and manouvre the unit back into the space behind panels.
Pop the wire off the back of the blinds switch and remove panel.
Rear panel will now pull off as well.
You may find out there is enough space behind the panel for an amp - I had a van recently with tv tuners place behind it.

Hope this helps.

Also, if you are not there to beat the crap out of thieves(have no mercy they deserve it) the only problem with bolting everything down well is the little ba$%^ds just wreck your vehicle removing it anyway.
